Success is personal. Standing naked in front of a mirror kind of personal. Standing naked in front of a mirror shutting out all of society’s voices on what you should be and what you should want. What makes YOU happy? What is YOUR definition of success for you and your business or your project. Not what others expect from you, but what YOU want for YOU. Is it “fire your boss” and turn your hobby into a full time business? Is it devoting more time to your art or project? Is it to teach your craft to others? Is it a large project you keep putting off that you want to complete? If you were to accomplish that vision, what would that look like? Consider a painter, success could be selling art at an art fair or a gallery or having a piece purchased by a large commercial card company or being commissioned to paint a mural on the side of a building or creating a design to promote a charity or maybe just sell enough through a website to pay for supplies with a little extra. Ask a painter what their vision of success is. You may find there are as many answers at there are colors of paint. It is so important that as individuals, we define our own success…as that success is OURS and ours alone. What will your success look like? Consider what the definition of success that others have had for you and what impact that may have had on you. Throw aside those expectations that others have for you, and begin to find your own personal definition of success. How will you define and then drive your success? ~notes from An Audacious Plan workshop
